Nine Berkshire players took part in the final round of the UK Chess Challenge, where the games change from 30 minute rapid-play at both the MegaFinal and GigaFinal to the classic long form time control of 2 hours. The players are no longer divided by age and many of the country's top juniors compete for the top prize of £2,000. All in all, it makes for a challenging two days.
Well done to Louise Head, playing in her last tournament as a junior, who finished 7th overall in the main TeraFinal section, and won the prize for Top Girl.
For some reason, many of the Berkshire entrants were packed into the Challengers "C" group. Viktor Stoyanov and Peter Isaksen finished in the top 10, while Andrew Kirby and Suyash Prasad shared the Top Under 9 prize.
