GM John Nunn Simultaneous

Chris Archer-Lock writes:
Twenty six players took part in the Ivan Gromov memorial simultaneous display from Grandmaster and former British Chess Champion Dr John Nunn at Eton College. The simultaneous was high quality both in terms of John Nunn’s play and the level of determined opposition from primary and secondary school players, including a strong Eton contingent.
Some of the youngest Berkshire players were amongst those who held out for between two and three hours against their distinguished opponent. In the end the grandmaster won all the games, apart from a draw with James Xu of Eton, who won the Ivan Gromov trophy for an excellent game. A book prize was won by Helen Archer-Lock for the best game by the BJCA contingent, a hard fought French Defence.
Dr Nunn also gave a lively game demonstration in his lecture afterwards, and the players were fascinated by a demonstration of some artistic chess problems by the former World Chess Problem Solving champion.
