U11 Girls and Maidenhead Junior Tournaments Saturday, January 13
Trevor Jones writes:

An entry of only 7 girls and 5 rounds meant that the Girls Tournament was almost an all-play-all ! Louise Head made a perfect score of 5/5 followed closely by Kate Bannister on 4/5 who lost a keenly fought game to Louise. Octavia Mason came third with 3/5. As expected, the regular players are staying ahead of the occasional players and improving their ratings at the same time. This tournament was intended as a warmup to the EPSCA Final which takes place on 24 March in Herts and all todays players are strong enough to be selected for the team to represent Berkshire Girls U-11.

Edmond Lote was the clear winner of the Open event. He only dropped a half-point throughout the tournament, by generously agreeing a draw in round 4 despite at the time having a better position on the board.
